Jewelers closing up shop? Not this one!

There is a great deal of speculation about the future of retail, with at least one online diamond seller saying the traditional jewelry store model is broken. There is no doubt some of my competition is struggling, given the increase in jeweler bankruptcies in recent months, and reports of mass store closings.

Please know that I am here to stay. Since 1992 I have served a discerning clientele by referral, and in spite of this tough economy, I'm doing just fine! With so many businesses openly talking about getting smaller to survive, I have not strayed from my original concept of providing a small, private, service-oriented way for you to save money on your important fine jewelry purchases. The ultra-low overhead business model works in the good times and the not-so-good times.

My mother would have said I didn't get too big for my britches, and today that really means something.

This is my first foray into sending you quick news via a Blog Post. I will try to keep these short and to the point. If you have jewelry topics or trends you would like me to comment on, please write me at joanne@privatejewelers.com.
